Already Blessed

Ephesians 1:3

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Good Morning All,

What a blessing to share with you the never ending love and grace of our Lord!  Thank you all for being partners standing on the promises of God.

For those English teachers and students out there please pay close attention to the verb tense in the above passage.  He is not promising to bless us but is telling us that we are ALREADY BLESSED (has blessed us)!  Once again God’s affirmation that we cannot “earn” His love or mercy or blessings.  It is all there just waiting for us to open our hearts and hands and receive.  AND there is no preferential treatment.  We are all blessed with “every spiritual blessing in Christ.”  AWESOME!!!  Can I get an AMEN?!  Do the dance of joy today and praise Him for His overflowing mercy and grace.

Grace and Peace

Ephesians 1:2

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

We too often fly over greetings such as the one from Ephesians.  We want to get to the meat.  We want a word from the Lord for our lives.  What could be better than GRACE and PEACE from none other than God and Jesus!  Grace, that which allows us into the Holy of Holies in spite of our human tendancies.  Peace; tranquility beyond reason.  What could possibly be better?!!!!!

So my friends, let us walk today in the GRACE and PEACE of God Almighty and Jesus our Savior.  How good is that?!!!!

Looking Ahead

Philippians 3:12-14

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Sometimes it is better to reflect on ancient traditions with an expansive view to the future.  pg.111 “Fresh Air” -Jack Levison

Churches, families, people can sure get stuck in ruts.  “We have always done it this way.”  “I remember when….”  “We have never done that before.”  “If you change ____ no one will come.”  “That is the way it has always been.”  And the list of rut living accuses goes on and on.  If God is alive, and I declare that He most certainly is, then why are so many churches, families and people spiritually dead?  Maybe, just maybe we spend way too much time looking in the rearview mirror and miss the expense of God’s glory that is before us.

What do we miss when we do not look ahead?  EVERYTHING that God has prepared for us and waits for us.

To Keep You

Psalm 91:11

For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.

Still finding it difficult to get into a routine once again.  Between construction on the house, taking care of Mom, challenges with the weather and all the things that need to be done for life in general, I am not utilizing my 24 hour daily allotment of time to accomplish what I need to do each day.  BUT, I am working on it!!!!

Recently I have had a large answer to prayer.  It is a prayer that I have lifted to heaven in one form or another over the last several years.  Yesterday some understanding was shown to be through a new way of looking at a scripture passage that I have heard all my life growing up in church.  It was a lightening bolt to the brain, an enormous shaft of light to my soul, and support for my heart.

This morning I read Psalm 91:11 and I was reminded of those years of struggle in prayer for answers and direction.  “He shall give His angels charge over you..”  I was not alone in that struggle; He had given His angels charge over me to keep me, to prepare me for the day an answer would come.  Sometimes, often times, there is preparation that must occur before we are ready/able to receive the answer to our prayers.  Psalm 91:11 shows us that we need not struggle but know that the Lord’s angels have been given charge to watch over us and keep us until that day; whatever “that day” is for you or for me.

Psalm 91:1-6

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

Hi All,

So sorry that my posts have been slim to none over the last few months.  It just seems as though one unexpected thing after another happened and life is just now beginning to settle to the point that I can once again try to establish some order back to my days.

Most recently, where I live just experienced a super-storm of snow and dangerously low temperatures.  The picture above was just a few hours into the snow fall; much more accumulated before it was all over.  Throughout these days of concern over electricity continuing to work, keeping vigil so that water pipes would not freeze, wearing proper clothing in extreme cold, caring for Mom who has been sick, and on and on the list seems to go, one thing continued to float in and out of my thoughts; the imagine of the roof of our house covered with snow.  I thought about that covering a lot and I felt comforted by it.  The more I pondered why the image was so fixed in my mind, the more I recalled scripture that tells of God’s covering.

God’s covering is over His people.  That does not mean that everyday will be perfect in this world’s eyes, but it does mean that the Lord is over, under and all around those who love Him.  Open your eyes right now and see the Lord is covering you.  He is there.  He is here.  We can depend upon Him.

Covered by Him,
