Foreigner in a Strange Land

Genesis 28:4

May He give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you now reside as a foreigner, the land God gave to Abraham.

God often calls us to places and events that are way out of our comfort zone, foreign, strange, even scary.  I have found that to be the pattern of my life and have struggled with it for decades.  I have declared that I am a foreigner in a strange land and found that basis for complaint, and excuses.  Where does that get me?…..frustrated and alone.

I am just now beginning to learn to search for the purpose of my life in this “strange” land instead of getting stuck on the fact that I am a “foreigner.”  If God has put me here, then He finds value and worth in what I can accomplish with Him for His Kingdom in this place and at this time.  He trusts me.  He has a reason.  He has a purpose.  It is time to celebrate who I am in the Lord, rest in Him and go about living so as to glorify Him.

The above picture is of a dear, sweet friend.  She is who she is no matter the circumstance and I admire her honesty and faith in action.  She is a foreigner in a strange land and she celebrates her uniqueness in the Lord.

God’s promise is that we will one day possess the land that He set aside for us long, long ago.  Where we walk now may feel foreign but one day the promise will be fulfilled and we will walk in His Kingdom; not a strange foreign land but the home of our Father.  Amen and Amen.  Live today celebrating who you are in Christ wherever you have been called.
