He Is Faithful

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Some days are easier than others.  Some weeks are easier than others.  Some years are easier than others.  Sense a theme here?

During Hurricane Sandy, October 2012, it became very clear to my husband and I that it was time to leave our East Coast home.  So we put our home up for sale in the Spring and by late Summer were moved 800 hundreds miles away from our home of 30 years.  During those months before the move much time was spent in prayer and the Lord made it clear over and over again that it was time to move and where we were to make our new residence.  The message He conveyed repeatedly was, “You go to prepare a place.”  Why?  I have no idea, but 39 years of following the Lord has shown me that He knows much better than I do and He is worthy of my trust.

So we bought a 100 year old fixer upper.  Lived in the home for two months without hot water.  Lived in the home during record breaking temps this past summer without air conditioning and few windows that would open.  The kitchen is so disgusting that I can rarely stomach preparing food there and plans for the remodel are not in the works until the new year.  Just recently the contractor was able to install recessed lighting in the living room and now I am no longer in a dungeon atmosphere in the evenings.  It is a slow process in bringing this house back to life.

It has been a slow process in finding a new church home.  It has been a slow process meeting people in the community.  It has been a slow process making a way in this new land.  And some days I start to wonder……

The above picture was taken while the electricians were removing sections of the plaster ceiling in order to run new electrical lines in the living room.  Do you see what was revealed on the underside of the upstairs sub flooring?  100 years ago when this home was being built someone put the sign the early Christians used to signify believers in Christ; the simple outline of a fish.  I believe with all that is in me that the Lord was saying, “See, Kay, I began to prepare this place for you from its beginning and I need you to trust Me and continue to prepare this house for what is ahead.  Goosebumps!…..head to toe!!!!!!!!!!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Amen and Amen!!!!

Kay

  1. Very exciting to know a fellow believer once dwelled, prayed, read their Bible & encouraged others in your home!!! Legacy dwelling.

  2. My favorite verses 🙂 …”and lean not on your own understanding”…. I need to remind myself of this every day! If I am loving The Lord with ALL of my heart, I will not lean on MY own understanding:)
