Revelation 2:13

I know where you live—where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city—where Satan lives.

Did you ever think about Satan living in a certain town/city?  For those of us living in the USA, just take a few seconds to think of cities in this country……….  Now the thought of Satan taking up residence in a city may not seem so far fetched.  I think it is time for those who love the Lord to make it very clear that Satan’s lease will not be renewed.  He must be evicted from our towns and cities and the borders of this country and every country be surrounded by God’s mighty and holy angels.  Warriors in Christ, sound the battle cry that God Almighty is King and Lord and no other.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Some days are easier than others.  Some weeks are easier than others.  Some years are easier than others.  Sense a theme here?

During Hurricane Sandy, October 2012, it became very clear to my husband and I that it was time to leave our East Coast home.  So we put our home up for sale in the Spring and by late Summer were moved 800 hundreds miles away from our home of 30 years.  During those months before the move much time was spent in prayer and the Lord made it clear over and over again that it was time to move and where we were to make our new residence.  The message He conveyed repeatedly was, “You go to prepare a place.”  Why?  I have no idea, but 39 years of following the Lord has shown me that He knows much better than I do and He is worthy of my trust.

So we bought a 100 year old fixer upper.  Lived in the home for two months without hot water.  Lived in the home during record breaking temps this past summer without air conditioning and few windows that would open.  The kitchen is so disgusting that I can rarely stomach preparing food there and plans for the remodel are not in the works until the new year.  Just recently the contractor was able to install recessed lighting in the living room and now I am no longer in a dungeon atmosphere in the evenings.  It is a slow process in bringing this house back to life.

It has been a slow process in finding a new church home.  It has been a slow process meeting people in the community.  It has been a slow process making a way in this new land.  And some days I start to wonder……

The above picture was taken while the electricians were removing sections of the plaster ceiling in order to run new electrical lines in the living room.  Do you see what was revealed on the underside of the upstairs sub flooring?  100 years ago when this home was being built someone put the sign the early Christians used to signify believers in Christ; the simple outline of a fish.  I believe with all that is in me that the Lord was saying, “See, Kay, I began to prepare this place for you from its beginning and I need you to trust Me and continue to prepare this house for what is ahead.  Goosebumps!…..head to toe!!!!!!!!!!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Amen and Amen!!!!

First Love

Revelation 2:3-4

You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.  Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.

Children do not have a dial down button on their energy and enthusiasm; they are all out or nothing.  Every part of their being shines for those they love; they wiggle, worm and squirm to get into the arms they want to hold them.  When was the last time you wiggled, wormed and squirmed to get into the Savor’s arms?  When was the last time I wiggled, wormed and squirmed to get into the Savor’s arms?  Something to ponder.

Carve Out Space for the Spirit

IMG_0423

“A verbless spirituality.  This is what Daniel teaches us about God’s spirit.  Daniel doesn’t so much seek the spirit as settle into the spirit.  He doesn’t crave direct and drastic displays of the spirit’s power so much as carve out space for the expanse of the spirit in the unseen crevices of his life.  He doesn’t so much hunger for occasional outbreaks of spiritual power as for a simple life for the long haul.”

from the book Fresh Air, written by Jack Levison  (page 57)

The above passage is from a book that we are reading for the Bible Study I am currently attending.  It is the best description I have ever read or understood of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  It is not about “doing something”, but about making space for the Spirit that allows the Holy Spirit freedom in our lives.  Life is meant to be about relationships, not rules.  God created the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve so that the Lord could commune with us, walk in the garden together, be in relationship.  God’s design was not to give us rules, but relationship.

If you have never read the Book of Daniel, I would encourage you to do so.  Read for yourself about the man, Daniel.  See the way Daniel faces every challenge.  Look for the ways Daniel carves out space for the Lord in his life, in his being.

I so desire to “carve out space for the expanse of the spirit in the unseen crevices of my life.”

He Sees

Revelation 2:1-3

These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lamp stands.  I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.  You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.

This passage was written to the church in Ephesus but its meaning is not exclusive to that time and people.  I read these verses and a warmth of comfort fills me.  He sees.  He knows.

Sometimes living this life can feel as though we are living in vain; that nothing we do matters or makes a difference.  These are lies from the pit of hell.  The One who is Truth and Love sees and knows and is grateful.
