Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am He, I am He who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
These last few weeks have been a roller coaster of emotions. Watching my 96, almost 97, year old mother in the grips of illness, immobility, dementia; struggling simply to remember her children’s names has been a challenge to my trust in the Lord. I often desire to remind the Lord that my mother has been His faithful servant her entire life. She has loved and praised the Lord in word, song and actions. Her servant’s heart has been awe-inspiring to me. She has taught me about the love of Jesus by living her life. And she continues to teach me grace and trust while her body rebels against her.
I choose to trust the Lord with my precious Mom and not question His timing. He is God and I am not. I know that He loves her and she loves Him. I ask the Lord to teach me in this time and to cherish whatever moments Mom and I have together. I will love her in those times that she does not know who I am and I will pray that the Lord’s desire for my mother will be fulfilled on earth as in heaven.
To God Be the Glory,
