The Door

Genesis 19:9-11

“Get out of our way,” they replied. “This fellow (Lot) came here as a foreigner, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door.  But the men (angels of the Lord) inside reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door.  Then they struck the men who were at the door of the house, young and old, with blindness so that they could not find the door.

So what is this door that non-believers are blind to see, that protects those inside and bars evil from entering?  From the moment that Lucifer fell from grace and lost his position as Worship Leader in heaven, he has been trying to get back so that he can take over the Holy of Holies.  The Holy of Holies, the inner chamber of God’s residence, the place where nothing can be that is not from and of Him.

Until this recent reading of Genesis I had not realized just how much God wants to tell us and show us about doors.  I know there is an importance here that I am only beginning to see and understand.

As I have shared in earlier blogs, we are in the process of selling our home and moving out of state.  After our house was on the market for 5 days we signed a contract with a couple who desired to buy our home and make it theirs.  Everything fell into place easily and we were busy making plans and doing work to ready ourselves for the upcoming move and then a glitch occurred and eventually that glitch turned into a deal breaker and so the house is going back on the market.  Throughout the many weeks of this process I had one time when my stomach was in knots and I panicked.  God brought Psalm 91 to my mind and I realized that I had a choice to dwell with Him in peace or be tossed by the chaos, I chose to dwell with God and have had absolute peace since.  The picture that I chose for this blog depicts exactly what was going on with Lot and what was going on with me, evil was sneaking/pushing its way into our lives; trying to sneak in through our door.  When I chose to dwell with God instead of the chaos the door to my Holy of Holies shut tight and I have been sealed in with God……most excellent living!  And now that I have chosen to dwell with God and give Him total control and access to the selling of our house and all that goes with it, evil has no longer been able to find my door.  Amen and Amen!  “SHUT THAT DOOR!”
