“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
The wild animals honor me,
the jackals and the owls,
because I provide water in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland,
to give drink to my people, my chosen,
the people I formed for myself
that they may proclaim my praise.
I have just returned from a lengthy stay in the state that we will soon call home. I know that God is doing a “New Thing” in our lives but I cannot always perceive it. There is so much about this new thing, this new life that seems cloudy and vague. This is truly a time of putting one foot in front of the other and continuing to move forward even when I am not sure if there is solid ground where my foot will next step. I know that God is making a way, it is just that I sometimes get in the way……………ever been there? The “comfort zone” is being pulled right out from under us and if we choose to stand then we must stand on the Lord for there is nothing else left to stand upon. I may be overdramatizing, but sometimes it does feel as though all we have known we must leave.
And yet, there is clearly a promise. “See I am doing a new thing!” We can’t go somewhere that we have never been if we don’t leave where we are, true? It may be leaving a place physically or it may be leaving old thoughts, old ways, old emotions, old security blankets.
My heart’s desire is to proclaim the Lord’s praise and so we step forward with one foot at a time. There are days when the clouds roll in and perceiving this new life is a challenge but there are also those days of crystal clear cloudless blue skies that penetrate my being and fill me with a boldness and confidence that is only found in the Lord.
If God is trying to do a new thing in your life, know that you are not alone. Others too are journeying a road that is not always clear. We have a choice to stay in the comfort of where we are and pretty much know the ways of our days OR we can step out and onto a path that the Lord has been and is continuing to prepare for us and receive His desire, plan, and blessing for our life and the lives of those we touch. I know that I do not want to miss the Lord’s blessing; been there done that, don’t want to ever do that again!
Hope I see you along the journey!
