The Day After

Matthew 6:12

And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.

We ask to be forgiven as we are able to forgive.  How does that look today, the day after the terror in Boston?  What reaction does evil arouse in you, in me?  I know my heart cries for the victims and their loved ones.  I celebrate those who stepped into immediate action to help the injured.  But what do I feel/think of the one(s) who committed this horror?  I am sickened by the actions and deeply grieved, but my reactions to the one who created this horror…..good question?  God calls me to forgive as I want to be forgiven.  Sure seems like a tall order today.

Here is what I know I can and will do.  I pray for the bomber(s) to come face to face with the Living Christ.  I will not curse them or hurl judgements upon them, but will pray for the Light of Christ to fill their hearts and minds.  There is no judge or court in this world that can remove evil.  Only Christ has the power to pierce the darkness.  Only in Christ will justice be found.  Only in Christ can I forgive as I desire to be forgiven.
