19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.
As the Roman solder pierced the side of our crucified Lord little did he know that he was piercing the veil between this world and the Holies of Holies. The shell of this world gave way to the Light of eternity and we were brought into the Throne Room of God.
In the ancient world the anchor was the symbol for hope. Jesus is our anchor, our secure hope. Through Christ we have direct access to enter into God’s presence. How? Jesus has covered our sins with His blood/His life so that we can enter the Holies of Holies and not die but have eternal fellowship with God.
